Photos are ready!

We had a fantastic ski assembly on Friday morning and everyone really enjoyed seeing more of the photos from last week.  Congratulations to all those who won Star Pupil prizes too and huge thanks to all the mums and dads who clubbed together to present the teachers with the lovely gifts - much appreciated!

Mrs Bell has put together all the photos (over 250!) and the PowerPoint from assembly onto a USB pen drive as a final souvenir from our trip. If you'd like your own USB pen drive to keep, please leave a comment below and Mrs Bell will make you your own copy! Each USB pen drive will cost just £6 with any profits going to school funds.

Day 6 - it's all over!

After another excellent day on the slopes, we're all safely back at the hotel enjoying a relaxing swim! The children enjoyed practising all their new skills on the slopes today with some even venturing onto the blue runs.  You'll be delighted to learn that everyone did very well in their ski exam yesterday and has a fantastic certificate to prove it!

It's Lily's birthday today so she had to put up with all of us singing Happy Birthday to her before we headed out this morning and she enjoyed opening her card from all the children and a pressie from mum.  The party continued at lunch with a fantastic birthday cake!  Tonight we're going shopping for a few more pressies then it'll be back to the hotel to pack our cases.  Don't be surprised if half of your child's clothes end up in someone else's suitcase...

We'll not be posting any updates tomorrow as we'll be travelling so please check the expected arrival time of flight MT1995 from Plovdiv.  We'll see you all at Aldergrove and expect to hear a huge Brookies cheer when you see us!

We love your comments so don't give up now!

Day 5 - return to the slopes!

All safely back at the hotel after another great day here in Pamporovo! We awoke to the most beautiful sunrise and the wind had died right down so our super skiers were soon heading off to the slopes once again.  The instructors have been assessing our skills today as it's the presentation night tonight where we'll find out what grade we've been awarded.

We had great fun at the Crazy Bowling last night with lots of super challenges including bowling with the wrong hand (Roan had a distinct advantage!) and bowling without your feet touching the floor - some ingenious solutions to this one!

Fantastic comments yesterday, keep them coming! And no one has correctly guessed the teachers' combined age yet but Mr McMullan is the closest!

Day 4 - an unexpected day off!

It's been a very stormy night and morning here in Pamporovo with a lot of fresh snow. Unfortunately the high winds have caused a few trees to fall and block the roads and it's not currently safe to use the chairlifts so there will be no skiing today.

So now we're having a relaxing morning in the hotel - some are having a snooze, teachers are drinking coffee, others playing cards or just having a chat.  Hopefully our lovely bus driver will be taking us to our favourite restaurant for lunch if the road is cleared soon and we might even get to do some bumboarding. We'll update you later on!
Update! So we did get to have our lunch down at the slopes and now we're back at the hotel enjoying an extra-long swim before dinner.  Bumboarding has been cancelled because of the freezing wind (it feels like -18°C outside!) so we're going back to do some Crazy Bowling after dinner.  Fingers crossed that we'll be back on the slopes tomorrow!

At last night's quiz we had two teams tied for first place so we had to have a tie-break question.  What is the combined age of all the teachers? Geri's team was only one year out and so became our quiz champions! Any parents want to take a guess as to what the correct answer is?!

Keep commenting please! And Mrs Scarah, we remembered to take the photo!

Day 3 - up to the top of the mountain!

What a gorgeous day for our P7 skiers! The morning began with beautiful sunny skies and we were delighted when our instructors told us that we were heading straight up to the top.  That of course meant that we had to get onto the chairlifts - no problem! Everyone enjoyed the 15min ride to the top and then we all learned how to ski all the way back down to the very bottom!

Unfortunately Jaden had a heavy fall at the end of the day and had to visit the medical centre. Luckily, she's simply sprained her knee.  She's had a chat with Mum, is in great form and is now being spoiled rotten back at the hotel.  The teachers are very proud of Jaden and all the children and we know that you are too.

Last night's disco was a great success! Tonight it's a quiz followed by an early night as we need to save our energy for tomorrow's skiing.

We love all your comments so leave us another one please!

Day 2 - learning to turn!

What an amazing day we've just had! Today we were concentrating on the second most important lesson - how to turn! It didn't take long for everyone to master the basics and we were soon weaving in and out of the poles. No injuries to report!

The instructors are delighted with our progress and, if the conditions are right tomorrow, they plan to take all the groups to the nursery slopes right at the top of the mountain. Fingers crossed! Will you spot us on the webcams? Maybe...

Last night we enjoyed the ten-pin bowling  and tonight it's the disco - time for the teachers to learn a few new moves!  Don't forget to leave us a comment!

Day 1 - we're learning how to stop!

It definitely wasn't a typical Monday morning for our super P7 skiers! We arrived at the slopes to be greeted by our fantastic ski instructors Radka, Steff, Geri and Vanya, got our skis and boots and headed to the nursery slope.  We quickly started to learn the most important lessons of all - how to stay upright, ski in a straight line, slow down and stop! You'll be delighted to learn that everyone is making great progress and that there are no injuries to report!

Time to go for a swim now and then dinner. We're hoping to go ten-pin bowling tonight - will we witness any strikes?! We love your comments - keep them coming!

We have arrived!

It's just after half past six here in Pamporovo and we're heading to dinner at last!

The flight was great and we had a super drive up the mountain without anyone feeling sick! The teachers were delighted, particularly Mr Henry as he was in charge on the bus!

Tonight we'll be unpacking, getting sorted with our ski helmets, having some quiet time around the hotel and then an early night.  We are due to meet our instructors at 9.30am tomorrow morning and then the fun really begins!

Are you missing us yet? Please leave us a comment!

Getting closer!

As Sunday approaches, we hope that you're all getting your gear sorted and that no-one is panicking about what to bring!

If you need an extra copy of the letter we sent home at the meeting on Monday night (which includes the list of clothing), please click here to download another copy.

Unfortunately two people won't be able to join us as planned on this year's trip.  Kyla and Mr Massey are both unwell at the moment - we're sending a massive hug to you both!  Mr Henry has kindly agreed to replace Mr Massey and, as this will be his first ever ski trip, he'll be joining the children for lessons each day!

Any questions, just ask!  Otherwise, enjoy your weekend and we'll see you at 6.30am on Sunday morning.

Welcome to our blog!

Welcome to the official blog for the Brooklands Primary School ski trip 2018!

Here you can read all about the preparations for our trip and visit some of the links to find out more about Pamporovo and our hotel. You can even take a look at the Web cams - when we're away, you might be able to spot us!

Then... once we arrive in Bulgaria, the teachers will update this blog daily so that mums and dads and everyone else will know what we've been up to each day! At the end of the week, we'll add lots of photographs that you can save onto your own computer.

YOU can also add comments - who'll be brave enough to leave the first comment?!

Don't forget - the next meeting is on Monday 8th January at 7.00pm - it's really important that everyone attends with their parents. Don't forget to bring your passport and your spending money to this meeting please!
